Assessment of the state of the Ukraine war / October 2023

The conflict would have been over by now, had the US had a clear strategy. The US however seems to have failed to make up its mind about whether to defeat Russia or to arrange a ceasefire In an effort to find a middle ground between these two options, it instead managed to drag out the war without achieving a victory. The main question over the next months is whether the US will be able to make up its mind for either of the two available solutions.
