Date: 24 June, 5:30pm (or a long time ago)
Location: Danube Institute (or in a galaxy far, far away)
This event uses the enduring mythology of Star Wars to explore how popular culture reflects and shapes our understanding of global power dynamics. From empires and insurgencies to shifting alliances and the struggle for legitimacy, Star Wars offers a surprisingly rich template for thinking about contemporary international relations. A panel of scholars and analysts will examine how archetypes from the saga echo real-world geopolitics - without mapping too neatly onto any single conflict - inviting a broader discussion on hegemony, resistance, and the search for order in a multipolar world.
Speakers:
The discussion will be moderated by Calum TM Nicholson, Danube Institute's Director of Research.
