"Laura: Was She Really A Dream?"

Otto Preminger's film Laura (1944) is a quintessential work of the film noir genre, exploring the relationship among attraction, obsession, and crime. Following our discussion of The Maltese Falcon last autumn, Dr. Paul du Quenoy will return to continue his discussion of how the genre developed with the onset of sound cinema and changed during World War II.

Paul du Quenoy is President of the Palm Beach Freedom Institute and President and Publisher of Academica Press. A historian and critic, he has taught at multiple universities in the United States and abroad and is the author of five books. He is also a professional music critic, with bylines from the world's leading theatrical capitals. He holds a Ph.D. in History from Georgetown University.
