Margaret Thatcher: A Life & Legacy

The Danube Institute warmly invites you to join us in celebrating the life and legacy of Margaret Thatcher on the centenary of her birth. This full-day conference, to be held in the Theater of the Lónyay-Hatvany Villa in Budapest, will run from 9:15 AM to 5:35 PM.

Margaret Thatcher, as Prime Minister, was instrumental in securing the West’s victory in the Cold War, revitalizing Britain’s economy and democracy, and supporting the return of Eastern and Central Europe to sovereign democracy. Our distinguished speakers include former colleagues from her government, associates from her post-prime ministerial years, and historians who have studied her enduring impact. Confirmed speakers, among many others, include:

  • Mr. John OSullivan, CBE, former speechwriter and political advisor to Margaret Thatcher, Founder and President of the Danube Institute
  • The Hon. Tony Abbott, AC, Former Prime Minister of Australia
  • Lord Griffiths of Fforestfach, former Head of the No. 10 Policy Unit under Margaret Thatcher and former International Vice President of Goldman Sachs, United Kingdom
