Dr Simon Cottee is a criminologist and freelance writer who covers terrorism and violent extremism. He is a contributing writer at The Atlantic, a contributing editor at Studies in Conflict & Terrorism and a regular contributor at UnHerd. He is the author of five books, including The Apostates: When Muslims Leave Islam (Hurst) and has written for a variety of newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Telegraph, The Sunday Times Magazine and Newsweek. He is a member of UK Government's Counter Terrorism Prison and Probation Independent Advisory Group. His current research project is on the migration-terrorism nexus in Europe.
