For decades, both conservatives and liberals in the West proudly championed the principles of a free society - freedom of the press, freedom of speech, freedom of association, and freedom of religion.
Today, however, many on the political left - now often identifying as “progressives” rather than liberals - are increasingly calling for these freedoms to be regulated and controlled by the state, its agencies, and even supranational institutions such as the European Union and the United Nations. In many cases, they also seek to define what is officially “true” or “false,” and what ideas should be restricted - or even punished.
Join two prominent defenders - Eva Vlaardingerbroek and Dave Rubin - of these freedoms as they discuss the pressures they have faced, how they have resisted them, and what it means to stand for free expression and open debate in the modern era.
