A historic meeting held place between two major powers last week. This panel will be examining the outcomes and consequences of the Trump-Xi Summit and its implications for great power competition, global economic order, and Hungary’s strategic position.
With the United States and China seeking to manage their intense strategic rivalry through high-level diplomacy, we will assess whether the summit represents a genuine reset in bilateral relations, a tactical pause in ongoing rivalry, or the beginning of a broader realignment in the international system. Special attention will be given to how the results of the summit affect Europe and Hungary - a country that maintains pragmatic relations with both Washington and Beijing and pursues a foreign policy based on strategic autonomy.
