A Reflection on the Occasion of the Day of Hungarian Culture
In 2025, the Liszt Institute Brussels, in cooperation with the Danube Institute, launched the Danube Dialogues event series, conceived as a series of high-level professional lectures and discussions to be held over the course of 2026. The opening event of the 2026 programme took place on 23 January 2026, on the occasion of the Day of Hungarian Culture.
The talk, moderated by Danube Institute Director of Research Calum Nicholson, was delivered by Max Keating, research trainee at the Danube Institute, and was based on the Danube Institute research paper titled “Hungarian Soft Power Tactics: Cultural Diplomacy in the 21st century.” It covered the formulation and practice of Hungarian cultural diplomacy, from its twentieth century origins under Kuno Klebelsberg to its modern practice.
