  • 5:00-5:20 P.M. - Hon. Barry Legg (virtual): “British Perspectives on Monarchy” Legg provides an in-depth discussion of Queen Elizabeth II’s Relationship with her Prime Ministers.  How has the monarchy been preserved?  He explains to a non-British audience the intimate and unique relationship the monarch has with his/her people-- a relationship non-Brits may have trouble grasping.   Other questions he will address include: Does the monarchy really make for a more unified Britain? During times of division like Brexit, did the monarchy serve to play a unifying role?  Should it? Finally he will discuss his leadership of the EU sceptic Bruges Group, and provide his perspective on historical monarchies (and their failures leading up to WWI) and the eventual birth of an unelected, undemocratic bureaucracy.  Constitutional Monarchies are among the most democratic nations on earth. Are they at odds or embracing of globalism?
