OTS Observer Status - A Strategic Advantage for Hungary

As geopolitical dynamics across the Eurasian continent continue to shift and turbulence increases in surrounding regions, the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) are strengthening their resilience and cooperation. Through deeper coordination and the integration of key strategic initiatives, the OTS is emerging as one of the most stable and reliable corridors for connectivity, trade, and energy supply across Eurasia, providing a secure and uninterrupted space for regional cooperation and development.

Hungary became the observer of the OTS in 2018 and gained strong trust among the Turkic states through elevating relations with almost all countries to the level of the priority or enhanced strategic partnership. Given that Europe is looking for new consumer markets and growing remilitarization, OTS presents a viable alternative to old markets. Hungary has a strategic advantage as the gateway, given its special relations, gaining prior access to energy, military cooperation and growing consumer market in these countries.

In this context, the panel will bring together experts to discuss the importance of the observer status of Hungary in OTS and its benefits for deeper OTS-EU ties.
